The British Rails board game is another addition to the venerable Empire Builder series. The series takes you just about everywhere in the world where they have railroads. The British Rails map allows you to play the popular crayon format of train games in England, Wales and Scotland.

This new edition of British Rails has re-balanced the game play of the original. The previous edition was very true to the actual distribution of industries and demands of Great Britain. Although this may have pleased purists, there was little incentive to build rail out to the smaller towns. The new edition of British Rails has been balanced much better so that an aggressive building strategy out into the countryside is required to prosper.

We enjoy this version of the game are pleased with our decision to buy British Rails. It provides us with a great new setting to play this game system with a new set of commodities, new map, and new demand cards to play. However, it doesn't significantly change any of the basic rules of the system.

The British Rails board game is a great introduction to the crayon train game genre, and for new players of these games you would do well to buy British Rails.
