First, let us say that if you don't have the original Carcassonne yet, stop everything else and buy it now. You're missing out on one of the best German board games on the market. Now, as soon as you've got that, make the game even better with this fantastic expansion set.
Carcassonne: The Expansion is really two expansions in one. First, it has everything required to add a sixth player to the game. Second, it contains new tiles and other pieces designed to improve on the original. Besides increasing the size of the board, the board game designers have carefully reviewed the original and tweaked the game to make it better balanced. For example playing one of your followers on a road was a relatively weak strategy, but Carcassonne: The Expansion increases the points for roads making the thief a more important part of the game.
That's just one example of how Carcassonne: The Expansion improves on the original. This expansion is simply more fun for more people. Why don't you have it yet?
