Rainy Day Game's Card Game Review of Bang:

Bang! Cards

Bang in Summary

The Bang card game is one of the best realisations of a theme that we have played. It's a game which begs the players to gasp and moan, snarl in a cowboy drawl, and make silly shooting noises at each other. As you might imagine, Bang is not a very serious game. If your game group is like ours, you'll be laughing and hamming it up all the way through.

In the wild west, the sheriff and deputies face off against the outlaws. And the renegade tries to survive the crossfire. You'll be shooting and dodging, trying to survive the hail of bullets. And with just 30 minutes to a game, Bang keeps everyone interested and involved. Even the ones who bite the dust!

Bang Gameplay

The Bang card game is simple to play because it integrates so well with its theme. By understanding he story, the rules fall into place. At the start, each player receives a "role" card, making them an outlaw, deputy, the renegade or the Sheriff. The Sheriff must reveal their identity. Then everyone receives a persona card, giving them a name and special power, such as stealing other players cards or increased range on some weapons. Each player also has a number of life points, and when they're gone, you're out.

You are allowed to have as many cards as your current life points, so just before you die, your options start to run thin. Each turn you draw two cards, play as many cads as you like, and then discard any cards above your current life points. What are these cards? Of course the central two are "Bang!" and "Missed". By playing a "Bang" card you take a shot at someone, and if you're lucky enough to have a "Missed" card you can dodge. There are other cards, such as a stop in the saloon to chug a brew to regain a life point. And perhaps most important are the new weapon cards.

Each player starts the game with a colt handgun, which can only shoot one person away from you, so you start only able to hit the person immediately to your left and right. But as you find better weapons in the deck, you can take shots at people further and further away from you.

The Bang card game continues with people shooting and dodging until enough people lay dead in the street to declare a winner. The forces of good (Sheriff and deputies) win if all the outlaws are dead. The forces of evil (the outlaws) win if The sheriff and deputies are all taken out. And the Renegade wins if he's the last man standing.

Who should buy Bang?

Many people call Bang a card game suitable for parties. And you can play it with up to 7 people, so it's definitely a good choice as a party game. We like it for a larger group who isn't focused on games for a whole evening. Bang's a great way to start people going. It's fast and fun and gives you lots of opportunities to get into the spirit of the game. The serious strategy gamers haven't read this far in the review anyway, so everyone looking for a great fun card game, buy Bang now!

The Manufacturer's Card Game Review of Bang:

The Outlaws hunt the Sheriff. The Sheriff hunts the Outlaws. The Renegade plots secretly, ready to take one side or the other. Bullets fly. Who among the gunmen is a Deputy, ready to sacrifice himself for the Sheriff? And who is a merciless Outlaw, willing to kill him? If you want to find out, just draw (your cards)!
