Rainy Day Game's Card Game Review of Freight Train:

Freight Train

Freight Train in Summary

The Freight Train card game is one of those games meant for a long sunny Saturday afternoon on the balcony. That's when we play Freight Train. It's a simple card game. We play it with some friends, enjoy a drink and let the hours go by pleasantly.

You'll try to make the longest trains from what's dealt. The game is great for kids, non gamers, anyone who enjoys a nice card game. You'll have hours of fun with your crew, no matter what their age.

Freight Train Gameplay

The concept of the Freight Train card game is simple. There's a freight yard, and each player gets a private switching yard. You take trains from the main yard and add them to your own locomotives. You are trying to build the longest (or second longest) freight train of each type of car.

There are 11 different types (tanker, box car, etc) and your trains must contain only one type of freight car. On your turn you must a) take three cars from the main yard into your switching yard, b) move 1 to 4 cars from your switchyard onto one of your trains, c) redistribute the freight cars in your switching yard at the cost of $1, OR d) on the first or second round you can bring a new locomotive into play.

There are only three turns in the Freight Train card game, and they're ended randomly by a "Trains Leaving" shuffled into the bottom half of the deck. The players with the longest and second longest trains of each type earn money. Also you'll earn a dollar for every car in your switching yard the first turn, nothing the second turn, and LOSE a dollar for every car at the end of the game.

At the end of the last turn when the "Trains Leaving" card turns up, everyone finshes their turns and the final earnings are tallied. The richest player wins the game!

Who should buy Freight Train?

Put plainly: anyone can buy the Fright Train card game and enjoy it. Freight Train has simple gameplay and it's a very good game for a relaxing time together with your friends and family. Young players will enjoy it too. Do yourself and your family a favour and get the Freight Train card game right away.

The Manufacturer's Card Game Review of Freight Train:

In Freight Train, each player runs their own freight yard and several trains. Using these and a shared main yard, players take eleven different types of freight cars and compete to form the longest trains. The game lasts for three "days", but when the yard foreman call it quits, that day is over. As each day wears on, tension mounts as players scheme to ensure that their trains will be the longest. The locomotives are waiting. Are you ready to roll?
